Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, S.5 -- Maintenance Tribunal Proceedings -- Death of Senior Citizen Applicant -- Proceedings do not survive. Proceedings under the Act are personal in nature and intended to secure welfare of the senior citizen during his lifetime, and the cause of action extinguishes on his death. Incidental involvement of a family settlement or arbitral award does not alter the essential character of such proceedings or permit their continuance on merits.
