Contempt--Retiral Benefits--Courts Cannot Re-Adjudicate Concluded Issues or Reverse Earlier Orders While Exercising Contempt Jurisdiction--Can Only Examine Compliance
Contempt jurisdiction is confined to examining compliance with binding directions issued in the original proceedings. Courts exercising contempt jurisdiction cannot re-adjudicate issues already concluded, including questions of eligibility, regularisation, or absorption. Reversal of an earlier order under the guise of contempt proceedings is impermissible and falls outside the permissible scope of such jurisdiction.
