Advocates--Court Boycott Resolution--Bar Association Cannot Penalise Lawyers For Attending Court Despite Boycott Calls

No rule, regulation, or bye-law of any Bar Council or Bar Association authorises a boycott of courts or empowers disciplinary action against an advocate for discharging professional duties. An advocate's obligation under the Advocates Act and vakalatnama towards the client is paramount and cannot be overridden by any Bar Association resolution. A show-cause notice issued against an advocate solely for appearing before a court or forum despite a boycott resolution is arbitrary, irrelevant, and extraneous to any lawful disciplinary power.
