Advocate--Public Interest Litigation--Advocate Authorized by Clients To handle Their Cases Cannot File PIL to Advance Cause of Those Clients

An advocate who has been authorized by clients to handle their legal matters before authorities cannot file a Public Interest Litigation advancing the cause of those very clients. Such a petition, filed ostensibly in public interest but premised on an existing professional and advisory relationship with the beneficiaries, falls outside the purview of PIL. Filing such a petition may amount to professional misconduct on the part of the advocate concerned.
