Banker's Lien --It Extends to Salary Accounts-- Protection Under Section 60(1)(i) CPC Confined to Execution Proceedings And Not To Lien of Bank
Banker's lien under Section 171 of the Indian Contract Act extends to money deposited with a bank, including salary accounts, and is not limited to physical goods. The protection under Section 60(1)(i) of the Code of Civil Procedure applies exclusively to attachment and sale in execution of a decree and cannot be invoked to restrict a bank\'s contractual right of lien or adjustment outside execution proceedings.
