Summoning Additional Accused--Contradictions And Credibility Of Witnesses Are Matters For Trial -- Cannot Be Grounds To Reject Application Under Section 319 CrPC

The standard for summoning additional accused under Section 319 CrPC is "strong and cogent evidence" — higher than prima facie satisfaction but well below proof beyond reasonable doubt. Courts must assess the cumulative weight of evidence and must not fragment testimonies by isolating individual inconsistencies. Oral evidence alone, if credible, may suffice; documentary corroboration is not required. Pre-trial scrutiny under Section 319 must not resemble a mini-trial, and issues of contradiction, reliability, and plausibility are matters reserved for trial.
