SCST--Framing of Charges--Order of Framing of Charge Remains Interlocutory; No Appeal Lies Under Section 14A of SC & ST Atrocities Act
An order framing charge does not constitute a judgment, sentence, or final order. It is an interlocutory order that merely advances trial without conclusively determining rights of parties. Section 14A of the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 permits appeals only against orders that are not interlocutory in nature. Even treating a charge-framing order as an "intermediate order" does not render it appealable. The aggrieved party may invoke revisional jurisdiction under Section 397 or inherent jurisdiction under Section 482 CrPC/Section 528 BNSS.
