Constitution of India, 1950, Art.19(1)(a) -- Fundamental Rights -- Disciplinary Action for Expressing Dissent -- The right of a student to express dissent, demonstrate, or show support for a demonstration by cheering constitutes a valuable right which cannot be curbed or interdicted. An act of merely smiling at protestors does not amount to indiscipline. Disciplinary action penalising such conduct strikes at the fundamental rights of students and cannot be allowed to operate.
