Cruelty by Husband or Relatives -- Vague Allegation Against Sister-in-Law Abroad -- Telephonic instigation alone does not constitute offence
Indian Penal Code, 1860, S.498A -- Cruelty by Husband or Relatives -- Vague Allegation Against Sister-in-Law Abroad -- General and omnibus allegations against a relative residing abroad, limited to instigating in-laws through telephonic conversations, do not satisfy the ingredients of cruelty under Section 498A. Mere telephonic communication by an in-law cannot be treated as criminal culpability, and such an interpretation would unduly widen the scope of the provision.
