Cruelty by Husband or Relatives -- Suspicion of Extra-Marital Affair with Sister-in-Law -- Mere suspicion without cogent material does not constitute cruelty
Indian Penal Code, 1860, S.498A -- Cruelty by Husband or Relatives -- Suspicion of Extra-Marital Affair with Sister-in-Law -- Allegations of husband chatting with a relative, engraving her son's name on his hand, or uploading her photographs do not by themselves constitute cruelty. Suspicion based on moral notions of wife, without cogent material capable of translation into legal evidence, cannot substitute proof of cruelty under Section 498A.
