Co-operative Society -- Recovery of Deposits -- Consumer Protection Act 2019 remedy available despite mechanism under Co-operative Societies Act

Consumer Protection Act, 2019, S.100 -- Co-operative Society -- Recovery of Deposits -- Creditors of a co-operative society can recover deposited amounts by invoking the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, despite the existence of a separate recovery mechanism under the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969 -- S.100 of the 2019 Act provides that its provisions are in addition to, and not in derogation of, any other law in force -- The remedy under the Co-operative Societies Act does not oust the jurisdiction of Consumer Forums -- Being a special and later law enacted to protect consumers, the Consumer Protection Act overrides the Co-operative Societies Act on this aspect.
